Education in the region today is a stable system with positive development and good potential.

677 general educational institutions operate in the region. Their basic advantages are varied network, opportunity to choose among the institutions and educational programs depending on individual educational requirements of the pupils.

Transformation and development of general educational system is directed on pupils' needs satisfaction depending on their psychophysical and individual requirements to educational process. Over 202,200 pupils are studying in general educational institutions.

The system of free non-school education has been saved and optimized (there are 61 institutions, including palaces, houses, centres of creativity for children and youth, profile institutions of technical, aesthetic creativity, sports, tourist, ecological hobby groups and so on).

There are 544 pre-school institutions, with more than 35,000 of children being brought up there.

Radical changes took place in the regional professional and technical education system. Its development, first of all, is determined by the economy reformation, change of labour market requirements. 44 professional educational institutions operate in the region nowadays, from them: 16 – industrial, 15 – agricultural, 7 – construction, 6 – light industry. One of priority directions of professional-technical education establishments reforming in the region is transition to new, modern technologies of professional training.

Today the institutes of higher education of Zaporizhzhya region are the powerful personnel and scientifi c supply factor of regional social and economic development. Today there are 36 high educational institutions in the region with 84.3 thousand of domestic and foreign students studying there.

Zaporizhzhya region is the Ukrainian pioneer of education system integration in global education process. Almost all institutions of high education provide programs of foreign probations both for professor's staff and students. Institutions of high education regularly take part in different international educational and scientific programs. Such methods give an opportunity to cooperate in educational branch with the world scientific society.

Thousands of specialists from more them 30 countries Africa, Asia, Latin America, and Central Europe were graduated medical and technical Zaporizhzhya universities. Zaporizhzhya institutions of high education have rich train experience of foreign students. Annually in the universities and institutions of Zaporizhzhya region graduating hundreds of foreign citizens.

Institutions of high education (such as Zaporizhzhya National technical university, Zaporizhzhya National university, Zaporizhzhya state technical academy, Zaporizhzhya state medicine university and so on) train the highly skilled staff: professionals with up to date knowledge of industry, agriculture, education, medicine, culture and so forth.

The mechanisms of gifted students and learning youth support, formation of the future intellectual elite are implemented at a regional level. The search by high educational institutions for their future students among the winners of school youth intellectual competitions (subjected Olympiads, research competitions of The Mala Academy of Sciences of Ukraine ) is carried out on a large scale. Combining of final school examinations results with entering exams to High School accordingly to the previous agreement is a widely used practice in the region.
